If it's a program, see the start menu, task bar (small icons in the lower right corner), the icons on the desktop, etc, then check the process. (Go CTRL + ALT + DEL and click on the process "… to find a process that could be suspect) .. unless you know what that is suspect, try to use Process Explorer.
