Windows XP Registry Tips and Tricks

Introduction:

Most settings can be easily Windows. However, for some parameters that need to soak in or use of a commercial registration number registration and some registry settings that might be interesting for you, using the Editor registry.

NOTE: Care must be taken to modify the registry, because the worst will happen as Windows will not boot. If you are unsure, do not change! My advice: create a system image before making changes Important!

Windows XP Registry Hacks

Registry Structure Windows XP:

When you open Windows XP Registry, you will see that it is divided into two parts. On the left side there are five major
Key as shown below. These can be several subkeys, which still has many subkeys.
+ HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
HKEY_CURRENT_USER +
+ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
+ HKEY_USERS
+ HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG
Before testing the settings, learn to save and restore the registry in Windows XP.

Registry Backup types:
It is very important before making the edition to backup the current registry. If you ignore this warning can be fatal to you.

Open registration. Click Start> Run, type regedit. When you call the export function File> Export, you are offered a selection of different types of files that can be Record:
Log files (*. reg)
Registry Hive Files (*.*)
Text Files (*. txt)
All files

Each one of several file types above plays an important role in the way of exporting the data is recorded. Choosing the right kind can give unexpected results. So let me quickly explain these file types.

List of files: save your file creates a log file .. Is the file format used best known for the backup of the registry. Registration packets can be used in two ways. As a text file can be read and edited with Notepad outside Registry Editor. Once the changes have been made and recorded, click on the file and use the [mix] command adds the changed file in the registry. If you do additions to the registry with regedit and then merge the previously saved record, everything you've added via regedit will not be deleted, but the changes you make to data using regedit that previously existed in the backup file of the recording will be replaced when combined

Hive Registry files: Unlike the option to save old files, the logging option of the hive files creates a binary image of the registry key selected. The image file can not be edited via Notepad and you can see its contents using a text editor. However, what the registry hive files format does is create a picture-perfect view of the selected key and allow the import into the registry to ensure change issues made deleted.

Text Files: This option not only as its name implies. It creates a text file containing the key information contained in the selected. It is most useful is the creation of a file or a snapshot of a key point can refer to if necessary. Can not be combined in the Register as an application form.

Of the options given above, the safest way to back up the registry is to use the hive option log files. No matter what ever you do or not to publish, import the image of the key will remove all changes.
